Loewe, Spain’s premier luxury handbag company is less known in the US than it’s LVMH (as in Louis Vuitton) owned counterparts, surprisingly, in this era of the next big brand, they have no big flagship here, and are only carried in DFS Galleria (also owned by LVMH) stores in San Francisco, and Hawaii.
But that is soon to change…according to an article in the Wall Street Journal , the line will be carried by Henri Bendel, sort of a hipper, funkier Bergdorfs.
In honor of that, I figured, why not introduce the line? And yes, there were many beautiful bags to choose from, but I simply could not resist this one…

Made from a beautiful shade of pale green python, this bag looks like some sort of chi-chi take out salad that comes with it’s own handle. The resemblance to a head of Boston lettuce is uncanny. It would be a perfect tote to carry a pet rabbit around town, in style!
Or, maybe the designer had just returned from a preview of Disney’s The Little Mermaid, and was inspired by the seaweed.
Whatever the reasoning behind this bag, it is a miss…even the gorgeous skin and color can’t save it.
But please, don’t judge a company by it’s vegetation, take a look at other styles…I’m sure you’ll be wondering where Loewe has been all your life!

Ah… to be 20 and full of bright ideas again. I’ve always wondered why fashion blogging in the UK hasn’t taken off at the same pace as it has in the USA or even Europe (I can name top ten French fashion blogs but I can’t do the same for the UK….). Of course, unlike fash-geek overe here, London’s young things are out and about or else, they’re creating sites like Pollocks that isn’t of the usual fash-blog ilk. Newly set up by Josef Valentino, Callum T and Nantay who have an average age of 19, Pollocks is a space for individuals to upload and share their work on their Blank Canvas, be it photography, fashion design, video or anything that can be displayed on the web. I believe they’re also going to be asking people to bring their work into a monthly gallery event to tack their work up on the walls.
I’ll be watching the Pollocks with great interest. Some recent finds include…

![They All Fall Down: Kirsten Dunst, Pretty Models Make Pointed Poses [Ad Libs]](http://citypeoplefashion.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/01/151874.jpg)
The fashion industry has always been, in part, about selling expensive shit to women in the form of female submission (corsets, stiletto heels, etc.). But there seem to be more submissives than normal in the ads of the major American fashion magazines this month, specifically, models and actresses in the sort of awkward, recumbent poses defined by academics as “arrogant, slightly insolent” expressions meant to induce status anxiety in consumers. We asked Mark Duffy, the dude behind the blog Copyranter for his opinion, and he gave a somewhat different take. “The advertisers want the ads to look inviting, so the models are put in subservient positions, so as not to intimidate readers,” he told us. “Also, such positions also serve as a ‘pointer’ (arrow) to the products.” So which is it? Are such ads inviting or intimidating? Take a look at the offending ads after the jump and weigh in.

![Style It Less Remixer Fashionista : A Thrifted Dress [Style It Less]](http://citypeoplefashion.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/01/151864.jpg)
Doesn’t rubyred25 look adorable in this thrifted dress? It’s actually a full length dress but she got it cut this short. I think it looks gorgeous. Such a perfect dress for boots. And look at the lace detailing. I’m jealous. She makes me want to go to my nearest thrift store and find my own pretty dress like this. I just love how simple it is yet she looks like she just walked out of a magazine photo shoot.

In today’s Reader Mail:
Dear BS:
I noticed you’ve been writing a lot about jobs lately. I have a job interview coming up—I have no money and I need something to wear, immediately! I don’t need specific suggestions—I don’t have time for delivery—but if you had any ideas about how to start thinking about this, I’d love to know. I want the job!
Love,
S.H.

We had all the vitals last night except for the price. Lucky for us, the D60 showed up today over at Henry’s with a pricetag of $800, not bad at all for this low-end DSLR. Nikon still hasn’t said anything officially beyond “pricing information will be available approximately 30 days prior to sales availability,” and we haven’t seen the camera, which arrives in February, available for pre-order elsewhere, but $800 seems like as good a guess as any.

Loving the waves we saw all over the red carpet on Sunday night? Our friends at ghd have some tips for recreating these looks at home, no stylist necessary.
I’ll start by saying that I LOVE the ghd ultimate hairspray, which is recommended for finishing some of these looks. It holds my hair in place without dulling it or making it feel crunchy, and it smells great.

![Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins Premiere Welcomed Fashions Both Good And Ugly [The Good, The Bad & The Ugly]](http://citypeoplefashion.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/01/151393.jpg)
Last night in Los Angeles, the stars of the new film Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins turned out to bask in their own glory. Some, however, looked more glorious than others. While Martin Lawrence, the film’s lead, kicked it old school, the other looks ranged from drop-dead gorgeous (Joy Bryant) to looks-like-she’s-gonna- drop-dead (Rachel Nichols). The full good, bad, and ugly, after the jump.

I was going to do a post of some beauty looks from the SAG awards but no one really stood out for me. I was happy when I came across the February cover of Harper’s Bazaar featuring beauty diva Jennifer Lopez. I have to say that she looks just lovely and pregnancy definitely agrees with her. Along with preparing for motherhood, Jenny from the block is also gearing up for the launch of her sexy new fragrance Deseo (Spanish for “desire”). Well, her look on the February cover is definitely something to desire. Recreate this look with some key products:
Brows: Jennifer’s brows are nicely define. Use a brow powder to naturally fill in your brows with M.A.C.’s Brow Shader which comes with a brow colour and highlighter.
Eyes: This violet-grey hue really makes brown eyes stand out. Blend a colour like M.A.C.’s Matte2 shadow in Poison Pen (mid-tone purple with grey) in the crease and smudge into the bottom lash line with pencil brush like M.A.C.’s #219.
Cheeks: This look has softly sculpted cheeks in natural tones. Try using M.A.C.’s Sculpt and Shape powder to highlight and shape the cheeks.
Lips: Keep this look modern with a nude lip. Sometimes extremely pale lips can wash the skin out and look chalky. Try a neutral lip colour that has a bit of pink and brown in it like M.A.C.’s N lipstick in 4N, a sheer mid-tone creamy brown.
Face: Give your skin a natural matte finish with M.A.C.’s Mineralize Skinfinish/Natural and give the skin a warm glow with a light dusting of M.A.C.’s N Collection Mineralize Skinfinish in Warmed, golden bronze with light yellow gold veining.
