We have been thinking quite a bit about, you know, how all the newspapers are saying we’re all going to be poor, and quite soon, and then, in particular, how this affects the appetite for $200 jeans. (We are trying to find the NY Times piece quoting this guy who was all, ‘And some people will now have to adjust to life with $100 jeans.’ He was hysterical, though we are not sure if he was hysterical on purpose or not.)
Anyway: We happened to be working at a "luxury" magazine (read: $10,000 "seating units") when the whole "masstige" thing hit (mixing Hanes tees and Chanel jackets, Stella McCartney for H&M, etc) and it was weird: especially the way, for the audience of our magazine, everything had to get even more insane and blingier because (horrors!) the poor (read: middle class) could get a piece of Stella McCartney, even if they had to do it at H&M. At the same time, though, we own a pair of $200 jeans. (Just one. And we regret it. All our best denim comes from Topshop and cost around $80, and even that’s inflated thanks to our Monopoly-ish currency abroad.) Anyway, if there is a recession, there’ll be fewer advertising pages in magazines, and fewer stories to face those pages, and we’ll probably go back to fighting for babysitting jobs. But as far as this affects our appetite for $200 jeans: We don’t think we’d mind if they went away. We feature them here, all the time, because sometimes you need a pair of jeans you can wear to your office. God knows if we were planning on having an office job for longer than the next two weeks, we’d invest, and our boss would maybe stop saying things about how "bohemian"-ly we dress.

![God Save The Beauty Queen: Live Blogging Miss America 2008 [Miss America]](http://citypeoplefashion.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/01/149288.jpg)
Did you know that the Miss America pageant this year was advertised as the finale to the TLC reality show Miss America Reality Check, rather than as the iconic, needless pageant? Me neither until tonight. I would protest and burn my bra, but I don’t wear one when I blog. Is anyone else home on Saturday night watching this thing? Anyway, let’s get it started.
8:03 I watched about 3 minutes of that Miss America Reality Check show, but it was about as confusing to me as why children in American classrooms don’t have maps so I gave up on it. I’m going into this thing completely unbiased.

newVideoPlayer(”Drew_Petereson_is_Crazy.flv”, undefined, NaN,”");![Drew Peterson Manages To Offend Fox News [Pure Evil]](http://citypeoplefashion.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/01/149287.jpg)
UPDATE: Stacy Peterson’s body maybe was found.
Hey, it’s Drew Peterson! Haven’t heard from that guy in awhile; I bet you assumed because was so busy looking for the “real killer” of his 98 missing wives or something! Well no. He’s been working on his comedy routine. Here’s the punchline: Drew — specifically, his lawyer– convinced Chicago radio station WJMK-FM to host a contest called “Win A Date With Drew Peterson.” This afternoon on Fox News, Shepard Smith interviewed him about it. Shep’s a tough crowd! Drew walks off the set!! Now if Shep would track down radio personality Steve Dahl, and find out just what the fuck he was smoking when he agreed to this…Or, you know, invite him on set and just give him a real swift kick in the nuts.

In My Bag began on a lark…one evening, in a fit of “I’ve read everyone else’s blog what do I do now?” I joined the ranks myself. I never expected it to be more than a vanity thing, and my first comment by a reader was a shock…someone, out there, liked my blog…and they came back for more! And they multiplied!
Well, again, I am stunned and amazed to learn that In My Bag has been nominated for a Fabbies blogger award…an honor in itself since the panel consists of some of the blogs and bloggers who inspired me initially, like The Manolo and Fashiontribes, as well as those that have become favorites like the Bag Snobs, Papierdoll Magazine, and e Beauty Daily.

You can cast your vote for In My Bag as your favorite accessories blog by clicking the link in my side bar, or going to the official Fabbies voting page and choosing the accessories category.
While there, make sure to cast a vote for your favorite fashion blogs in all the 12 categories…go ahead, make a blogger’s day.
Voting closes April 30, 2008

The Perlier research laboratory has developed an advanced anti-aging cosmetic technology. Perlier’s Black Rice products contain dehydrated plant micro-sphere particles that rehydrate and plump up from their original size when they come in contact with water. When the Black Rice cream is applied, these micro-spheres are absorbed into the skin and attracted to wrinkles, where they soak up the skin’s natural moisture and re-inflate.

Tune in to E! to watch the SAG Awards red carpet! This post will be updated every few minutes as the stars hit the carpet. I’ll post photos as they come available, and will recap the best and worst looks tomorrow morning. Keep checking back and post your opinions on the best/worst celeb looks in the comments!
Amanda Bynes: WOW! Amanda looks stunning in her navy strapless Marchesa gown with bewjeweled bodice. Looks like a starry night sky..love it! Loose waves with wraparound braids, and slightly smokey eyes, add to the heavenly feel of her look tongiht.
Jenna Fischer: Jenna’s wearing navy Colette Dinnigan with embellishments…looks like the trends are shaping up already, as her dress is incredibly similar to Amanda Bynes’. Love her gorgeous red hair in the side updo. Makeup is balanced, pretty but not overdone.
Nikki Blonsky: Royal blue satin…blue is definitely the color of the night so far! Too bad poor Nikki had to stand there and watch old videos of herself in high school plays!

You’ve heard me rave about Urban Decay Primer Potion time and time again…it’s a staple in my makeup bag and is amazingly effective at preventing eye shadow creasing (and it helps keep shadows true to shade, too).
Effectiveness notwithstanding, I’d always had a suspicion that the curvy, lip-gloss style tube packaging was trapping quite a bit of product inside. Then I saw this post on Clumps of Mascara and my deepest, darkest fears were confirmed!

![Men (Wrongly) Think They’re Smarter Than They Are [GuyQ]](http://citypeoplefashion.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/01/148551.jpg)
Newsweek has an interview with British researcher Adrian Furnham, who is a professor of psychology at University College London. While scientists know that men and women are fairly equal in terms of IQ, Furnham studies perceived smarts. He says he’s found that “women, across the world, tend to underplay their intelligence, while men overstate it.” Sigh. Continues Furnham: “Men are more confident about their IQ. These studies show that on average, women underestimate their IQ scores by about five points while men overestimate their own IQs. Since these studies were international in scope, the results were essentially the same whether women were from Argentina, America, Britain, Japan or Zimbabwe.” Not only that, but Furnham says that both genders tend to believe that their fathers are smarter than their mothers and grandfathers are more intelligent than their grandmothers. And guess what? Parents tend to think their sons are brighter than their daughters. Where have we gone wrong?
