The Spawn Of Hasselbeck Visits The View [Clips]

January 8th, 2008 by admin

newVideoPlayer(”viewbaby_jezebel.flv”, 475, 376,”");
Elisabeth Hasselbeck came back from her maternity leave to rejoin the other ladies of The View today, and she brought her new baby Taylor Thomas Hasselbeck, whom we can’t help but want to rename Jonathan Taylor Thomas Hasselbeck. Anyway, the baby is cute and all, but he’ll probably grow up to be pro-life or something. (Although Jennifer is hoping he actually grows up to be gay. That would be kind of perfect, right? There’s some “intelligent design”for you. You know, certainly not as a punishment, but as a way of God, baby Jesus and the Spook to teach some understanding to someone who seems completely incapable of stepping outside her socio-economic circumstances for one moment to try and understand that other people live their lives differently.) Anyway, in addition to showing off her son, Elisabeth also talked about how the lack of WMDs in Iraq is not an important issue anymore. We’re so glad to have her back!

Dr. Ruth Personally Advises Us On Period Sex [Great Sexpectations]

January 8th, 2008 by admin

On Saturday, some of the Jezebels went to brainstorm over S’mores at a coffee/sandwich shop, when, who should appear but Dr. Ruth. She shuffled by our table, all 50 inches of her — seriously, girlfriend is short! — and Anna was the first one to spot her. I was like, “Guys, I have to get my picture with her!” Anna said, “Yeah, and ask her about what she thinks about guys asking to come on your face on the first date.” I convinced Dodai to walk over to Dr. Ruth to take our picture on my phone; she was sitting alone, reading a book. (You can’t tell from this shot, but her glasses were lined in pink rhinestones. Cuteness!) She was really gracious — all smiles — and allowed me to pose for a picture with her. Then she turned back to her book, so I said, “I’m sorry, can I just ask you one question?” She smiled and said, “Yes, but make it quick.” Ha! I briefly considered the cum-on-the-face thing, but thought, “Oh I can’t. She’s about to eat!” For some reason, I felt that period sex was a more appropriate mealtime topic for conversation.

Style Tots Poll : Are Crocs Good or Bad For Babies and Kids? [Style Tots]

January 8th, 2008 by admin

For our first Style Tots poll, I’ve decided to tackle the Crocs controversy. A lot of reports came out this year regarding it’s safety. Some have been about kids getting their crocs stuck in an elevator. Dangerous stuff. My son doesn’t have a pair. He’s 9. My 16 month old has a pair that she only wears at home. She was actually wearing it today which made me think about this starting this poll. The first time she wore her crocs, she sat in her stroller the whole time coz we went bowling. And the whole time, she kept reaching for ‘em to chew on. I have a pair that my husband bought to wear at home. And that’s where I wear my crocs. Aesthetically, they’re ugly..LOL. Comfort wise? I’ll give it a 4.5 .

So, do you think crocs are a good idea for your children? Vote Yes or No in our poll located at the sidebar —–>. If you have other thoughts about it, please feel free to leave them here. Thanks.

In Bizarre Development, Elite Universities Pledge To Offer Something Called “Financial Aid” [A Touch Of Class]

January 8th, 2008 by admin

Here is something good happening in the world for once: Yale just decided to do a radical thing and actually use the billions of dollars in its coffers to actually give financial aid to students who need it. It’s a very odd move, one that defies market conventions since Yale has absolutely no problem filling its classes with kids who will willingly indenture themselves at investment banks and management consulting firms for decades after graduation to pay off their tuition fees, but see, Harvard did it a few weeks ago — and one can only imagine that Princeton, whose endowment is big enough to give tuition away for the next half century or so, will follow suit. Interestingly, this news comes on the same day that New York Magazine runs a story on the problem of instilling work ethic in the children of America’s 15,000 families worth more than $100 million. Most likely, you never kids from families worth $100 million before you went to college. And once in college you probably didn’t see them in class! Remember Born Rich?

Luke Weil, heir to the Autotote gaming fortune, described how Brown University couldn’t bring itself to kick him out because it needed his family’s money–”I think I attended less than eight academic commitments”–and added that in boarding school, whenever a classmate would annoy him, he knew “I can just say, ‘Fuck you, I’m from New York. I can buy your family; piss off.’ ”

Helena Bonham Carter Really Likes Her Personal Space [Annals Of Cohabitation]

January 8th, 2008 by admin

The Sweeney Todd press machine may have petered out in the US, but it is going strong in the UK, where the film has yet to be released. And today’s Guardian features an entertaining interview with Sweeney star Helena Bonham Carter, who is quick to point out that her personal relationship with the film’s director, Tim Burton doesn’t equal nepotism: “‘I really do have to be righter than right before Tim lets me do a part. Sexual favours don’t get me anything….It’s inverted favouritism. Or maybe just sadism. Whatever the opposite of favouritism is.” Still, there seems to be something very normal (and dare we say healthy?) about their work relationship: They fight like any good couple would!

There’s no pretence with us, you see….’Well, [Burton] was all [during the making of Sweeney]: (growls) How difficult is it to come through the door and cover that spot!’ And I’d be (whines): ‘I’ve got wool in my head because I’m fucking pregnant, and there’s blood everywhere and I didn’t see it, all right?’ And all I get is: “Action!”

Sock it to Me!

January 8th, 2008 by admin

I spotted these curious items on BellaSugar a couple of days ago and just had to share to see what you think!

Meet PediSavers, special toeless pedicure socks that you slip on just before polish application. The thicker fabric around each toe opening allows the socks to function as toe separators.

PediSavers cost $16-20 per pair, which I suppose isn’t bad compared to the $128 another company wants for these god-awful pedicure boots. (Be advised, I am quite sure that the comments section of that post was hijacked by the Bootie Pies people, hence the number of glowing reviews posted from the same IP address.)

Exercise Your Right to Vote (For Hollywood’s Best-Dressed, That Is) [Snarkstress]

Exercise Your Right to Vote (For Hollywood’s Best-Dressed, That Is) [Snarkstress]

Is Katie Holmes Your #1 Gal?

Yeah, I’ll admit it. Mrs. Cruise, aka Katie Holmes, has got me seriously rethinking my favorite Hollywood Style Mavens. I mean, has this chick come a long way or what? She’s gone from Tom’s young and giggly couch-jumping inspiration to the epitome of class, sophistication, and Bad-Ass Momdom (um, hello. When was the last time you ran a marathon during the day, then strapped on your stilettos for a movie premier at night? Huh? Huh?)

Anyhoo, for a while I’ve had a poll in the sidebar asking you to vote for your favorite Style Icon, but I’ve updated that and am now asking for a new vote. This time I’ll let you add your own choices, but the four gals on the list happen to be my faves - I just can’t decide who I like best.
