I did think I had to scratch my head a little when I saw the latest Colette newsletter declaring that next season will be all about the neons. *More head scratching* Wasn’t it all about neons for spring summer 2007. Ah no… it was all about neons in the London enclave where club kids were dancing about splashing fluro-paint on each other. In the REST OF THE WORLD, I don’t think neon was rampaging down the streets and on the catwalks it has lingered on for a bit in dribs and drabs. Ergo, Dr. Martens neon boots for SS08 don’t come as a complete surprise. Forgive me for this, but I am well and truly drawn to them when put in the context of pairing them with similarly fluro-florals and in that context only! Given the Dr. Martens appearances in harsher/grungier collections (Yohji Yamamoto and Chloe - an interpretation of DM….), wearing these neon ones with girlier, flirtier ensembles seems to make sense as a way of trend mutation/progression. It’s also an updated version of donning black DM’s with Laura Ashley floral dresses.
Hopefully I’ll find a way of getting away with this without either being labelled a ‘has-been nu rave kid’. I’ll just have to pump up the florals to add some much needed confusion.

Who doesn’t love pretty-looking makeup? Laura Geller Baked Marble Eyeshadow stands out from the crowd of other monochromatic shadows with its swirl of colors.
I have the Forest Mist shade, which translates on the eye as a shimmering sage green color, but looks a lot more intense in the pan. This shadow twinkles all day with no creasing. Even though I’m not usually one to take advantage of the wet option on wet/dry shadows for all over lid color, this shadow goes on smooth and blendable when wet.

But NB: We saw a couple of these in the store for less.
We bought this sweater! Typically we are firmly against the cotton sweater (given, as it is, to the bagging \ sagging), but … nothing ventured, nothing gained, etc. AE rugby sweater, was $49.50, now $34.95

I don’t usually write a lot about sneakers here, but there are a couple cute editions of Nike sneakers that are coming out for Valentine’s Day that you might be interested in.
The Nike Court Force High St. Valentine’s Day below features a lot of pink, plus a variety of textured leathers. I really like the red quilted patent leather around the heel area.
Keep a look out for these at your local Nike retailer. They should run around $100.

Ah, the spring collections are popping up everywhere! And I couldn’t be happier…it’s barely even January and winter has been bringing me down. Cold weather, grey skies, early sunsets, what a bummer. I think I might need to pick up one of those lightboxes that they use to treat Seasonal Affective Disorder.
Or…I could just pick up this new palette from Bobbi Brown and fake spring…at least on my face.

I have to admit, I like wicker - unfortunately, my DH doesn’t, so my wicker mirror, lampshades and old-fashioned boxes are kept packed away.
This new purse from Kate Spade may satisfy my wicker longings though:

Spooning and cuddling just got easier: The Love Mattress has a solid middle portion, but slats in the foam at the top and bottom so that couples’ arms and legs can dip below the surface. That way, if your limbs are tingly, it’s yearning, not lack of circulation. (Click the picture for another view.) [Inventor Spot]

After an uneventful New Year’s Eve, my thoughts turn today to the year ahead. I’m not ![New Year’s Resolutions [Pretty by Nature]](http://citypeoplefashion.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/01/128857.jpg)
a resolution type of person but I do like to take stock each year and make a plan of action that I think I might be able to stick to. There’s power in numbers so I am encouraging anyone who is interested to join me. I’m going to try to be as conscious of my lifestyle choices as I am with my skincare. The first thing on my list would of course be the standard, lose some weight. I never pay attention to the number on the scale because to me, it’s more important how I look and feel. So after a seemingly endless supply of pies and cookies this holiday season, I would just really love to fit back into my pants. That’s all. There’s no specific number I’m trying to reach, just fit into my pants comfortably again. Oh, and less back fat squishing out over my bra. Â
There a a few others like, use fewer paper towels and keep to my cleaning schedule *snort*. Whatever. Back to something that really matters, my ass. So I think I am going to incorporate a daily walk/run into my routine to help the jiggle. During the frigid winter here I will need to protect my face with something. We usually smear some Baby Balm by Balm Balm on the bug’s cheeks before going out, so today I used it too. We went sledding (okay actually us running like idiots through the snow dragging the baby) so it was a necessity. It’s really the perfect substitute for any situation when you might need Vaseline. It’s petroleum- free and certified organic so while it will create a barrier to lock in moisture, it won’t be too greasy. Of course, I could always bundle up like the kid brother in A Christmas Story but then how would I even be able to run. Oh the joys of winter. Happy New Year from the bug!
