I love picking out calendars - especially after Christmas when they’re on sale! I just found this little gem for my studio - of course it’s anybody’s guess if I can get any work done without drooling my new calendar [Her Accessories]

Foaming at the Mouth

January 2nd, 2008 by admin

I quite literally snorted with laughter on the Tube as I read Christopher Hart’s review in The Sunday Times of the new restaurant ‘Texture’ in London.  Every dish was supposedly covered a muscus like foam and tea was served in test tubes.  Still, what is hard to work with successfully in food is an altogether different matter in fashion.

Aerluxe is an online boutique based in New York that stocks mostly indie American designers that are what most would describe as ‘effortless chic’.  I normally have trouble getting my head round this misleading oft-used phrase as it’s not something that I clamour for in my clothes.  However, when there are genuinely interesting things going on in these ‘easy/breezy’ pieces, I can’t possibly object.  Funnily enough, my favourite pieces from Aerluxe are full of texture and rather foam-like in colour (assuming that you all feel that foam is neutral in colour and quite airy and light).  Lightweight fleece, soft cashmere, wispy mohair and distressed leather all in airy, cloudy colours.

Next please!

January 2nd, 2008 by admin

It saddens and baffles me that post-Christmas, the most headline-worthy fashion newsbit relates to the UK high street retailer Next.  Boxing Day 2007 was officially the busiest day in British retail history and in the wee hours of the morning, queues were forming at stores, namely Next and Marks and Spencers.  Two women collapsed at the Next store in West Midlands, another was taken to hospital with breathing difficulties and another was trapped in a door.  Ludicrously, West Midlands Ambulance Service had to issue some ’sales queuing advice’ to people ‘A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "Our staff were somewhat surprised to get so many calls to different branches of the same clothing company.

Forget Manicures…Get a Minicure!

Forget Manicures…Get a Minicure!
I picked up the cutest little manicure kit recently and it’s made me fall totally in love with Zoya products. Not only do the products deliver an amazing, shiny, long-lasting mani, the name makes it hard to resist! Minicure? So cute.

I rarely have time for a salon manicure, so fab at-home nail products are critical…and these definitely make the grade. The Minicure set houses adorable mini sizes of Armor (basecoat), Anchor (top coat), Hurry Up (oil and silicone speed-dry drops), and shimmery red Shiloh polish.

Suspiciously “Straight” Guy Gives Suspiciously-Animated Advice On Getting Engaged [Rules Of Engagement]

On the Today Show this morning: A segment about getting engaged over the holidays that quickly devolved into a fairly insulting discussion about marriage and how, for some women, an engagement is the culmination of their life’s work. (Ugh.) On the show were psychologists Robi Ludwig and Jeff Gardere, who seemed suspiciously, shall we say, not straight, despite the presence of a wedding ring and complaints about being a henpecked husband. Our take: He’s gay! But Gawker Media videographer Richard Blakeley has other ideas! “He’s just a Midtown metrosexual,” says Richard. But wait! “I just watched it again,” he says. “He is pretty gay.” Decide for yourselves, ladies, by viewing the clip above. (You can see the entire video here.)
