iBSlender Aerobic Stepper [Shopaholics Daily]

The last time I was at a hotel, I used their treadmill, but it wasn’t until I stepped onto their aerobic stepper that I noticed that my heart started pumping the way it was supposed to. While I adore watching TV and walking (yes walking) on the treadmill, it obviously doesn’t give you the workout that a stepper does. And this particular one tells you how many calories you have burned and how many steps you have accomplished. With all of those little black dresses that are in our closet… well, lets just make sure that they fit when we start our rounds of holiday parties!!

Tale of Two Hair Irons [Beauty Gizmo]

Image from : Hot Mama Daily

Today, I found a very helpful and interesting post within our B5Media Beauty & Style Channel, which talks about comparing two flat irons, namely Solia and Sedu. Pascalle over at Hot Mama Daily discusses her adventure with the two noteworthy hair iron brands and gives her thoughts about it. You can read about it on her blog, as well as vote which hair iron gave her better results as she posts results of the two hair irons.

On a personal note, I loved it that Pascalle tipped that using a serum would definitely work well with hair irons into achieving a sleeker and make hair strands straighter. Mine’s Kerastase Oleo Relax Serum, and I believe that it does wonders! I loved her braided look most of all in all the pictures, because it was just sooo beautiful with the pretty bangs, and all.

Sigh, I have used my ceramic hair iron last Friday as I attended a party, and I actually missed playing with my hair considering it’s rebonded. Now, I’m lemming to touch curling irons, too!

BS Contests: Hoodies for A Horrible Holiday

Obviously, we really like alliteration. We also really like hoodies (we’ll get to this in a minute), and we honestly love the holidays. Our favorite holiday of all time is probably Thanksgiving - which makes it that much more mind-blowing that it is, without a doubt, the most miserable day of the year for us.

It wasn’t always so bad. When we were wee (see, there’s that alliteration again!), we would go to our grandparents’ 75 acre farm in the middle of Pennsylvania. Aunts, uncles, and cousins from far and wide - hitting maybe 40 deep, overall - would come to celebrate. We would have a homecooked meal, perhaps a tractor-pulled hayride. We definitely remember jumping off rafters on the second story of the barn into hay bales. Our mother was not around to see this - our then-delinquent, now ultra-religious uncle was watching us. And our older sister. We did not get hurt. Our (other) uncle ran around the house in our grandmother’s curlers and robe, our older cousins played cards with us until we couldn’t stay awake any longer.

This all changed when our grandparents got older and moved into a retirement ‘village’. It was still ok - homecooked, family. And then, our grandfather died on Thanksgiving. That kind of set the bar for terrible Thanksgivings. Years since have included:

Wearing nametags at dinner (to introduce step-grandfather’s family to our own, though it should be noted that we loved them very much)

Being thrown out of dinner for refusing to dance the Macarena

Dinner being prepared by cooks at a retirement home, so it was low-sodium and easy to chew

Dinner being held in a restaurant that was essentially a diner with carpet

The boisterous family of 40+ being reduced to a table of 8

The 8 discussing being laid off, unemployment, Parkinson’s and impotence (honestly, as in our aunt [by marriage] asking our mother about her husband/our uncle/our mom’s brother about his impotence)

A rather mean-spirited game where you have a mystery gift exchange of wrapped presents, and we ended up with a pie - while our sister ended up with a coveted Farside calendar

We know this sounds like such a downer, but we honestly have to laugh about it because if we don’t, we will probably cry a lot. When we heard that this year, one of our immediate family members would not be joining us, and our aunt was having the cooks in her retirement village cook for us, we actually started to cry.

What does all this have to do with anything else? Well. We want to hear everyone else’s stories so we don’t feel quite as sorry for ourselves. It doesn’t have to be particularly tragic or sad - but we want to hear your most ridiculous, silly, outlandish, unbelievable, pathetic, sad, tragic, amusing holiday story you’ve got. As a prize, we’ve been lucky enough to score 3 Super Hood hoodies from Champion to give away. We’ve got one on now - as we are, it’s been mentioned, always cold. And we are not cold, and we look rather cute. And quite frankly, during this season we have been known to pull the hood up over our heads and pull the string tight so no one can see us. Er, so we can’t see them. So. Tell us your best holiday story (any holiday!), and you could win one. We have three to give away - red, light blue, and a pale pink. The sizes claim to be L/XL, but we find they fit more like S/M. Send us your best stories here, and be sure to indicate what color hoodie is your first choice. We’ll pick one winner for each color, so three winners total.

Entries are due by the end of the day, Monday. EST.

Gobble gobble…

Thanksgiving is coming, and in honor of the holiday, I’ll give one thing I am thankful for…companies like Fendi that make this so easy, and fun.
The wool and feather To You Convertible bag has been likened to a Rastafarian, a dust mop, an unshorn sheep, and a bag in need of a waxing. It may in fact be the most often derided bag since Vuitton released a $42,000 bag of cutting room scraps.
But really, this bag is appropriate to the season because it really is a turkey in every sense of the word. No, really, it looks like an unplucked coiffed turkey.

Line it with plastic, and it would make a perfect centerpiece on the Thanksgiving table instead of one of those cheesy accordion turkeys or cornucopias.

It’s probably not too late to have one shipped overnight so you get it in time…

Bluefly has it in stock (surprise, surprise) in black for $3,176.

Mineral Makeup Makeover : Coastalscents Minerals

Whenever I’d be faced with a client worried about a mineral makeover, I usually hear, “are you sure you can do it? “, or “can this *pointing to the flaw* ” fixed? I hear those all the time, and I usually don’t bat an eyelash and tell them confidently, ” don’t worry, mineral makeup can do ANYTHING. It did wonders to my hopeless me, and I’m sure it would do wonders to you,” and start my work.

This is not my work, but this is a product of a mineral makeover courtesy of Coastalscents. This is one of the illustrations that proves my point that mineral makeup can do anything, and Coastalscents just made a point here!

The before pic, as you can see, bare faced freshness, but with some dark undereyes ( which is really normal for workaholics and studious people like us ), some redness, and freckles.

The transformation? Get to see it after the jump!

Very, very beautiful! Marissa, the model, was already beautiful to start with and mineral makeup just made her skin glow all the more, as well as accentuate her features.

Here’s what the makeup artist at Coastalscents did :

1. A small amount of Concealer A was applied below the eyes and on the left cheek.

2. Silk Cover Foundation in Fair was used all over face, a perfect match for her delicate tone.

3. Cheeky Blush was applied to the apple of her cheek and then very lightly applied on the forehead, nose and chin.

4. We first applied Squeeze Me Shadow wet all over the lower lid, next highlighted across the lid crease with Cozumel, below the brow bone was highlighted with Vintage.

5. Her Eyes were then lined with Velvet Shadow/Liner and Xtreme Lash Mascara was applied.

6. We used a Fire Red lip color and applied a clear glossi over it.

I loved in on how they evened out her complexion totally, as well as defined her cheeks using some glowy blush like Cheeky blush. The eye makeup was cute, too, along with the juicy looking Fire Red lip color.

So how about you? Have you made over yourself or your friends using mineral makeup?

Bunnyshop Hearts: Amelia’s Magazine

We love Pop, too, but Amelia’s is totally one of our favorite magazines. We can’t describe it. Just check it out. There’s nothing better, we’re thinking, than a magazine that is obviously the product of one, very creative mind (rather than a series of torturous meetings, where everyone feels totally braindead and depressed) and this is totally that.

We know: $20. But it’s like buying a book. Amelia’s Magazine issue #7, $20
