![‘Naughty’ Orly Nail Lacquer on my Nails [Beauty Bento Box]](http://citypeoplefashion.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/11/73449.jpg)
Oh, the vanities of women. What we do on our bodies sometimes. Painting our faces and nails in various colours. It’s a little funny when you think about it. LOL.
Anyway, I’ve been quite hooked on dark nail polish lately and I just wanted to show you guys what I had the manicurist do on mine last week. I scheduled this appointment cuz of the event I had to go to Friday night. I’m currently sporting a ‘Naughty’ colour from Orly Nail Lacquer. I found the colour sleek and gorgeously dark and I loved it!

>> Kate Moss just got photographed for a Donna Karan campaign — for the first time ever. The images were shot in LA last week by Mert and Marcus and will feature Donna’s Spring "Nueva York"-themed collection. Lucky for us, a pesky paparazzo was on set, so take a gander this-a-way to see Kate in action…or inaction, whichever may be the case.

![AMA Fashion As Uncomfortable As Jimmy Kimmel’s Jokes [The Good, The Bad & The Ugly]](http://citypeoplefashion.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/11/72976.jpg)
The American Music Awards were last night, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. We caught about 30 minutes of it, and that was more than enough. Once we heard Kimmel make an ill-placed joke about his 14-year old son wanting to lose his virginity, we had to change the channel. (And whatever, Pretty Woman was on TBS at the same time!) The fashion choices on display left us with a similar feeling: While there wasn’t anything downright offensive, something about the whole thing just read wrong. Like Beyonce, for example. Yeah, she looks great — but haven’t we seen her in like this dress just in different colors at every single event she’s been to in the past 5 years? After the jump, we give you our picks for the good, the good but bordering on slutty, the bad and the ugly.

![Blockbuster Palette by Sephora [Shopaholics Daily]](http://citypeoplefashion.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/11/73024.jpg)
I mentioned a few weeks ago that I would tell you about my other purchase while in Chicago and somehow the days got away from me. But today’s the day. Here it is!! So far I have played around with the browns which I have yet to find a shade that I can’t wear, but yesterday, because I was wearing a green cardigan, I decided to try out some of the greens. And there is a dark one in the palette that has this smokiness to it. Looks like I have a new group of colors to check out.
One of my pet peeves is to buy a collection and then not being able to wear some of the colors. So far that hasn’t happened. All of the plums I know I will be able to pull off, but not sure about the blues. Maybe as an eyeliner?? I bought a turquoisy blue liner last year (again while on holiday) and it really perked up the brown of my eyes.

As we write this, it’s snowing. We, in fact, had a whole other post started but when it started to snow, we realized that staying warm in crap weather is more important to us than most other things.
We hate being cold. We are cold all the time. We are cold in the winter, cold in the air conditioned summers. We generally wear some kind of cardigan - be it of the sweater or sweatshirt variety - on any given day. At our desk, we keep a bright blue wool sweater that we wear over everything, including other sweaters. We do not discriminate. We have found the only way we can be warm is a combination of sweat pants, a sweat shirt, a tank top and/or t-shirt, a down (or equally heavy) blanket covering us from the ribs down, and a large, warm dog sleeping on our feet. This is exactly how we are right now. Since that’s not so conducive to doing things like, oh, leaving the house, here are our cold weather picks:

A few weeks ago, I had a party to go to and no new dress to wear. My friend told me to check out asos.com, which if you don’t know, is a site famous for selling clothes that are ‘in the style of x celebrity’ and also clothes from a few UK high street brands (like Oasis, French Connection and Mina). So after spending some time on it, I didn’t know what to think about it. Because a) ASOS has no physical store and you never know how the clothing item is like in real life until you’ve actually felt it.b) The prices are high-street prices, meaning very affordable. This again, makes me very suspicious of how the clothes would look and fit.c) I’ve heard mix reviews from friends. A few of my friends said the clothes were decent, and one wasn’t a fan of the quality. d) If I wanted to return the clothes, I would have to mail them back. Talk about inconvenient and the extra cost involved!

These two black dresses are classy and stylish. The quality looks decent too. I especially like the sequinned one.

The red dress is quite cute, and the silver, sequinned dress is perfect for this party season!

Now these are examples of what I think are poor quality and design. The black dress’s material looks cheap and the gems a bit too plastic-y. OK, I know the dress doesn’t actaully cost a lot (38 pounds), but I have no desire to wear that material. As for the cream-coloured sequined dress, the design is just not very flattering.
This is the dress that has got me seriously thinking to give ASOS a go. I really like this dress. It’s stylish, pretty and very youthful.
And on a closer look, even the beads and sequins look ok in quality. So should I dive in and get this dress?
Another dress I’m liking is this waistcoat dress. It’s cute and cool. It’s made of all polyester though, so I’m not sure how it’ll look in real life. So I need your opinion: If you’ve ever bought anything (or seen your friend’s purchases) from ASOS, let me know what you think of them! Oh, and what do you think of the last two dresses? Rami Kashou won the first challenge on Project Runway. The best thing is that I discovered he sells some of his wares at Maneater, one of my favorite shops. It’s so rare that you can actually buy something from a designer on PR before the show is over.
A lot of the stuff Maneater has is very twisted and manipulated fabric, like this gorgeous dress. If it’s any indication of how Rami works, we’re in for a good season.

We were sooo excited the Lomography Society made our year and sent us this reissue of the Diana camera the day before we left for Africa (more about that tomorrow.) We were excited even though are pictures are bound to be crap when we get them developed, even if we are sure they are going to be all masterpiece-like when we take them. (We are, thus far, always wrong about that.) So anyway, it took us about four days to figure out how to load the film in, but we did, and we just dropped off our five rolls of it today. We are sure the resulting pictures will be amazing. (They will not be. Hope, springing, etc.) In any case, this color-saturated, high-contrast image is the kind that the Diana is famous for. How could we not be excited when we might be able to take a picture of a dog like that? A picture like that, or a dog like that, either way, pulses=racing. More or less.
