I’m busy in the most hellish of ways these days but Saturday will see hairdressers showcasing fashion and art in East London in a weird but hopefully wicked amalgamated event, that I’m definitely hopping along to. Hair and Jerome. a decadent and avant garde hairdressers in Spitalfields is collaborating with artist Elie Menard for this variety event to raise money for Association Pas Seuls, which helps those that are living with a disability.
Along with the art, the extravagant airs of Hair & Jerome (I’m seriously contemplating one of the do’s below from H&J’s avant garde collection…), designers Cross & Spot and Ivana K will also be showing their SS08 collection as part of the event.
I’m looking forward to discovering two new designers who I hadn’t previously heard of which is a shame seeing as their background and of course their collections are highly impressive. Cross & Spot is a menswear label, designed by Sheila Dass who has done pattern cutting for the likes of Alexander McQueen and Michiko Koshino and Massimo Casagrande who worked at Versace for four years but is now Head of Fashion at the Istituto Marangoni in London. It all seems to say tailoring with an edge and definitely that Style Salvage would go mad for.
The highlight of the even for me though will be seeing Ivana K’s collection come to life. How I have missed this Marangoni Milan graduate from my radar is most baffling seeing as she has been around for quite a few seasons, though it is in the last two that she has really impressed me. To summarise, these are dresses that would convert even the most dress-shy girls.
Anyway, for all Londoners up for seeing this mixed showcase, the party kicks off at 7pm at The Dispensary Pub in Whitechapel (cocktails and canapes included!) and tickets are available for £35 (all proceeds going to Association Pas Seuls) at Hair and Jerome Salon or by calling 0207 357 0044. Hopefully, will see some of you there!
