Emotional Eaters More Likely To Regain Weight [Burning The Scale]

A new study shows that those who eat for internal reasons, such as sadness or loneliness, are more likely to regain weight lost over time. Eating for external reasons - because there was a party or a social event where lots of food was consumed - was not shown to have a correlation with weight gain.

One way to tell which one you are is if you have a self-defeating attitude about dieting. Do you tend to binge once you go off your diet on other off-plan foods? This means your drive to eat is internally based. This is something I used to do, but lately I remind myself that it’s going to do double the damage or worse, and it isn’t worth it.

I’d say I’m more likely to overeat at a social event - which is why the holidays are dangerous for me. I’m surprised that this type of eating wasn’t found to lead to weight gain - especially over the holidays.

Which type do you think you are? Let me know in the comments.
