Acme Research cranks up the silly with “LeDoc” iPod rig

There’s certainly no shortage of solutions out there for hooking an iPod up to your TV, but Hong Kong’s Acme Research nonetheless looks to have found a bit of room for some innovation, although you’ll have to judge for yourself if it’s an improvement or not. As you can see above, the “LeDoc” (which does appear to be a legit device, despite appearances) employs a video camera to allow for some big screen iPod-viewing, and thankfully includes a remote so your hand doesn’t get in the way of the menus. On the upside, that roundabout system does at least make the dock cheaper than some other solutions, with it setting you back an even $100, although it seems you’ll only be able to take advantage of it if you have a pre-2007 iPod.

Keepin’ it real fake, part XCIII: Bestlink Electronics clones the HTC Touch

Oh poor little Bestlink Electronics BL 3280. You look just like the HTC Touch, but you have no phone, no touchscreen, and your casing appear to be made from reconstituted Batman action figures. Sure, they say that you can play MPEG4, MP3, WMA, WMV, ASF and WAV files, and that you’re no slouch at viewing e-books or JPEGs, but does that help you get to sleep at night? You can boast about your “dynamic GUI” all you want, or flaunt your FM radio and “gaming functionality” (though we’re not sure how that works with your lack of buttons), but deep down you’re just another, shoddy knock-off — and we know it. Hey, at least you’re not called the Pouch. Price and availability unknown — we guess cheap and soon.

Two Faced Lights, Camera, Glamour [Shopaholics Daily]

Couldn’t help myself. I picked this up on my trip to Chicago last week. I just have this thing about kits that I can toss into my purse. Inside you will find eye shadows, lip glosses, blush, duo-bronzer, foundation powder, brow definer, eye liner cake, and face shimmer. I used it for the first time yesterday… yes, I own way too many cosmetics, but this is just plain fun. And just in case you are wondering, yes, the inserts come out and fold away so that you can toss it all in your handbag. The only thing that was missing were tools. But I did find a cute little pink kit of brushes at Sephora for $15.00 that should take care of the problem.

Lights, Camera, Glamour Available at Sephora for $40.00

*I will tell you what else I bought at Sephora in the coming day. :) Yes, I found yet another kit that I couldn’t leave without.

Blow Dryer, Revolver Style [Beauty Gizmo]

Woah! This looks like a very cute blow dryer, that can “blow your brains” ( sorry , pun intended ) for it takes the form of a revolver. Lia muses that it reminds her of the song “Suicidal,”, and as for me, I don’t think I can ever use this blow dryer because I don’t think I can point a revolver straight to my head. I have phobia with guns, knives, or any violent weapon! Just imagine a hairdresser using this on you. I think I would absolutely faint.

This retails for $35 or 4000 yen. What do you think?

Necessary Things

Generally speaking, we should be kept in a bubble. We have mentioned before how insanely clumsy we are. We fall down standing still, we’ll tip over at random. We will completely drop everything in our hands for no apparent reason at all. Earlier this week, even, we almost choked on toothpaste AND fell off the treadmill in two separate events! Most things we own should also be bubblefied, or at least siliconed or bumpered SOMEHOW, as they will inevitably go careening towards the floor at some point in time.

Today was no exception. We had an eye doctor appointment this morning (all went well), so we got to work late. Which means we missed day 3 of our running schedule. And today is Friday, and we leave work early on Fridays. At 4:00pm. So we could’ve run after work, but during lunch was preferable. What’s the point of leaving early if you suck up that time on the treadmill? And hey, it was only 20 minutes. So, come lunchtime, we gather up our clothes and toddle downstairs to the gym. We go in, look around quick to make sure a treadmill is available, and we go to the locker room to get changed.

We emerge, 5 minutes, 3 shirt changes, and a couple discouraged looks in the mirror later. WE ARE READY TO RUN. We have our sneakers, our iPod, our ponytail. We are on the the treadmill. We’re moving.  Oh, what’s that we see? Is that our Exec. VP who is so fit it’s questionable if he’s actually human? It IS! It IS!

ExecVP looks at us and smiles in a friendly way. He really is a lovely man.
‘Hi ExecVP!’, we say and wave. And by wave, we mean raise our arm, get our hand stuck in our headphone cord, and manage to ROCKET our iPod across the room.

We stopped the treadmill, got off, retrieved our iPod and just looked straight ahead for the rest of our run.

Thankfully we have a nice hardcase on our iPod so it doesn’t get all jacked when we are clumsy. It’s still good as new, believe it or not.

And, we have learned our lesson. No more running at lunchtime.

iSee iPod case, $15.02 - it should be noted this the closest we could find online to the one we have. And it appears this one may not be compatible with all models.

Happy weekend, everyone!
