Shooting Cubicle Alarm System keeps your stapler, paperclips safe

If you’re truly trying to protect wares that actually posses a substantial level of worth, we’d recommend a few alternatives more suited for the job, but if you’re simply trying to keep the office snoop from “borrowing” your red stapler, this cubicle defense system ought to suffice. Put simply, the three devices can be set up around your personal space, and while the first unit simply flashes, emits a blast and simultaneously alarms the other two, the second device actually throws out an uber-terrifying (okay, so maybe that’s a stretch) red beam to further startle the invader. If he / she persists, the final unit launches two non-lethal missiles to let that encroacher know that you mean business. Yeah, it’s not exactly intimidating, but if you’ve nothing better to do than watch a demonstration of the $39.99 system in action, check it out after the jump.

News Flash! Women Can Do Things Men Have Done [Anything You Can Do]
If anyone actually paid much attention to the U.S. space program, we’d say that the papers are all full of how there was a woman commanding the shuttle Discovery and the International Space Station at the same time, but no one really does anymore, so it’s more like an article here and there. But, really, people, does it still truly qualify as news when women do something that men do (relatively) regularly?
It’s not like we’re talking about peeing standing up or fertilizing our own eggs here. The news story is literally that two highly intelligent, well-trained and (presumably) ambitious women got to the top of their mutually-chosen profession and happened to do so at nearly the same time. It’s great that they’ve broken yet another glass ceiling, but why is it the biggest news out of the space program since the diaper-wearing stalker lady astronaut?
In what is surely completely unrelated news, because no government agency would do this sort of thing just to get public attention, NASA’s funding for Fiscal Year 08 has yet to be passed (since Congress and the President are dancing around the appropriations bills) and some people are saying that it’s not nearly enough money anyway.

Guilty Pleasures
Having had a stressful few weeks, I decided to treat myself to a day of guilty pleasures.
- My top guilty pleasure is sleep. And by that I don’t mean the usual 8 hours. I mean sleeping for however long and whenever I want. See, I’m not a morning person. Hence I never feel like waking up in the morning. So this morning (afternoon), I woke up late. And then I went for guilty pleasure number 2……
- Romance novels. I find the newer novels these days to be much too formulaic and tedious to go through to find a good one. Hence I love reading the old ones that I knowclosed my eyes for a few minutes whenever I wanted to. are good. The classics never get boring. They are all the same anyway, its just the quality of the writing that differs. Besides, all I’m looking for is a happy ending to escape from the real world. One of my all time favourites is Jill Mansell’s, Miranda’s Big Mistake. Its super sweet. Mansell is generally pretty good, though I can’t say much for her newer books……And while I was reading by the window next to the warm sunlight, I indulged myself some more and

- Next on my list is endless hours of mindless TV shows. These days I watch just about anything, Greys Anatomy, Samantha Who, Gossip Girl (love it), ANTM etc. But my ultimate favourite is still the chic lives of the girls on Sex and the City. I can never get bored of them. They are classic!
- And we must not forget nourishment. Guilty pleasure number four: eating ice cream out of the carton. Then you can really eat as much as you want. And the ultimate pleasure of all? Sleep after you eat. I know that it is highly not recommend it. But succumbing to food coma is just the best thing I can imagine. Even if you cannot sleep for the rest of the night after….

- But thats ok, because then you can indulge in guilty pleasure number 5: talking on the phone with an old friend and going down memory lane- for hours. 4 hrs and 5 minutes to be exact. There is no path better than memory lane. Now I really want to read all those Christopher Pike books I loved to read when I was 13…… especially Starlight Crystal. Its about this girl who falls in love with this guy but a few days later she had to go on a spaceship that is designed to be a time capsule that observes human evolution over time. And then something goes wrong and there is this huge time warp and….I just remember it being more cool than it sounds now.
- And the last of my guilty pleasures? List making. I love list making. I make lists about everything (observe this blog). And diary writing. It really keeps track of your thoughts and clears your head up. Besides- its awfully entertaining to read a year later….especially if you make interesting lists, like new years resolutions and checklists… I highly recommend it.
- Staring into space and letting your mind wander…and perhaps closing your eyes for a few minutes whenever you like. Especially nice if you have a nice view or a clear sky to stare at.
And this is my list of guilty pleasures I like to indulge in on my “me” time. What are your guilty pleasures?

Urban Apothecary Products Get A Facelift–You Benefit With A Sale [Makeup Minute]
OK, let me just say that I had intended to write about some pretty cool products that Urban Apothecary has out, most especially how I love their What’s Hot Now page with pictures of the fall makeup looks and the exact products needed to achieve that look–thank you UA from the baffled and sometimes lazy people like me!
Anyway–as I was strolling through the site I then happened upon their mention that they are giving their products new packaging, so they needed to deeply discount them to make room for the newly packaged goodies.
My mouth hit the ground! Lipstick for $8!? Creme to Powder Foundation for $15!? A 5 piece custom eye palette for $45!? Crike!!! I’m actually going to stop writing this post just so I can go buy something! Come see what I mean: www.urbanapothecary.com

Spiru-Tein Vanilla Protein Shake Review [Burning The Scale]
The large blue-and-white can of vanilla Spiru-tein brings back some great memories. When I was a young kid visiting my aunt in Utah, she always had some of this stuff around (being kind of a health nut, or at least that’s what I assumed of anyone who drank protein shakes). She’d get out the can, a glass of milk in a plastic cup, scoop the powder in and stir until it made a delicious vanilla treat. I just loved it, even though I couldn’t say much for its ability to mix well.
I’ve had it now and then since that time, but had almost forgotten what it tasted like till I picked up some at one of our local health food stores. So, here goes-
The Taste
It’s not as sweet as I remembered, but that could have come from mixing it with Almond Breeze instead of the skim milk I used in the past. Overall, the texture is a little gluey (I kind of enjoy it that way) and as I noticed before, it doesn’t “mix instantly” like it claims to do on the package. However, it has a good vanilla flavor.

fetherston.
you know, erin fetherston seems to have that certain something, that certain sense of whimsy, a gloss of parisian chic and a humourous sophistication about her designs, that you cannot help but love it. at least, that’s my take on it. in my mind, her collections are simply charming…
