“You may say that you’d never lose your cool like Carol Gotbaum. You’re not an alcoholic. You’re not a depressive. You are supremely self-controlled. Good for you. Right now. Today.” That’s Judith Warner on the month’s weirdest pointless death that was pointlessly and tragically concealed from her husband when he called 911. Yeah, I know, a downer. (Almost enough to make a person a reckless, depressive alcoholic! Oh wait…) Also, from the funeral: “The central teaching of both Judaism and Christianity is to love your neighbor as yourself.” Aw!
