Breast Cancer Awareness Month - Fresh Baked Cherry Pie [The Scented Life: All about fragrance]

Head2Toe Beauty is mostly a stop for nail products for me, but I couldn’t help seeing this totally yummy Cherry Pie body wash.  I know, I know, it makes you have Warrant in your head.  I’m sorry.  But it’s for a good cause - the proceeds are donated to the City of Hope for Breast Cancer Research.  At only $5.95, I’m not sure how much goes to fighting this terrible disease, but every little bit helps,  right?  It’s also GREAT as a shampoo, too!

Holiday Fever in a D&G Short Belted Trench Coat [The Latest Luxe]

Counting down the holidays is simply sweet with a few early gifts.  When holiday parties and gatherings require a grand entrance, a trench coat decked out in rich red satin is sure to take centerstage:

This D&G Dolce & Gabbana Short Belted Trench is just short enough to cover that holiday minidress, a double-breasted button front with a full and flowy skirt.  Long sleeves and tabbed cuffs wrap it all up for a stellar holiday treat.

Check it off your wishlist early:  D&G Dolce & Gabbana Short Belted Trench Coat $1,295 available at Neiman Marcus

Aquolina Pink Sugar Hair Perfume [The Scented Life: All about fragrance]

Like I’ve mentioned before, I am really surprised that products designed specifically to fragrance the hair aren’t more popular. Perfumes or body sprays don’t really work with the hair - silicones, gels, and other light oils are more ideal. Alcohol is a bad idea with hair in general because it is drying and can also potentially mess with colored hair.

Aquolina, with its stellar bestseller Pink Sugar, is down with that. They offer a 100ml hair perfume with silicones (a bit can protect and shine the hair, but too much can weigh it down like a greaseball, so go gentle). it’s quite cute and the micro-mist is easy to use.

It’s only $15 at AvenueYou but can probably be found in many other brick & mortar stores, especially in Europe.

Perfumed hair I think is especially nice out of doors, or in a smoky bar or club.  Carry a little container of perfume and prevent yucky smoke smells from attaching to your locks instead.

I’ve revealed my love of Japanese paper jewelry before but just had to add this to the mix :-)

It’s a cherry blossom watch from Fred Flare, even better - it’s only $24!

The Lady Bunch: Whoopi Makes Funny Faces, Tyra Thinks You’re A Geek

newVideoPlayer(”ladybunch23.flv”, 475, 376);
Whoopi is finally getting the hang of moderating The View, and she’s really getting comfortable. It’s not so much what she says everyday, but rather, the faces she makes in response to what the other ladies are saying that has made me fall in love with The View all over again. But I’m not on such great terms with Oprah. She was highly unclip-able this week, even though the topics of her episodes were pretty interesting, like Jessica Seinfeld’s new cookbook and Alexis Stewart’s fertility struggles. And then there’s Tyra. She had a somewhat infuriating discussion on pornography (although not as anti as her past episodes have been), a relatively long and boring interview with Melissa Etheridge, and then an episode all about male geeks. She also provided a quiz for viewers at home, to find out if you’re a geek. Check out how you measure up, after the jump.

So Tyra’s geek episode last Friday was supposed to be geek-positive, but of course, she gave the geeks makeovers.

She tried on one of the geek’s glasses. This screen grab sorta makes me want to be friends with her.

Oh, who am I kidding? All the screen grabs make me want to be friends with her!

Except this one. Her weave tracks on the bottom don’t match the ones on the top. Looks like someone else is in need of a makeover.

So this is the geek quiz, which Tyra filled out. See how you measure up:

Who, Us?: “You may say that you’d never lose your cool …

who, us?

“You may say that you’d never lose your cool like Carol Gotbaum. You’re not an alcoholic. You’re not a depressive. You are supremely self-controlled. Good for you. Right now. Today.” That’s Judith Warner on the month’s weirdest pointless death that was pointlessly and tragically concealed from her husband when he called 911. Yeah, I know, a downer. (Almost enough to make a person a reckless, depressive alcoholic! Oh wait…) Also, from the funeral: “The central teaching of both Judaism and Christianity is to love your neighbor as yourself.” Aw! Remember that this weekend when you are trying not to love alcohol above all things. [NY Times]

Skinny Bitches: Lily Allen: A Few Sizes Smaller, Scared of Karl Lagerfeld

We love a Lily Allen interview because the girl doesn’t have much of a filter, but she’s got a knack for talkin’ smack, particularly about the fashion industry and magazine editors for perpetuating unrealistic standards of beauty. So it’s a bit weird that she’s noticeably shed a few pounds and will be performing at the Swarovski Fashion Rocks concert next month — clad in Chanel. However, in today’s Times of London, it’s evident that she’s still her same old self:

I have lost quite a bit of weight but I didn’t feel any pressure to do it. It wasn’t even intentional, it was more that I split up with my boyfriend and I’ve been mucked up ever since.

She also opens up about being afraid to meet Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld:

I was absolutely petrified when I first met Karl [Lagerfeld]. All the PRs were pushing me into going and I was like, what am I doing? And I was really shitting myself.

Shitting herself? Maybe that’s how she lost the weight!

J. Lo Preggo Party [Snarkstress]

Oh, Baby!

So I’m not sure I would’ve pegged J. Lo as a Private Pregger. I figured she’d be flaunting her bump all over the block. I guess I figured wrong. Instead, she’s taken to hiding out in these tenty-ass dresses, hiding the natural beauty that a pregnant chick has. I find it a shame, really. Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t like the in-your-face Mommas-to-Be that run around in midriff-sporting camis, but I’m not buying into this camp-worthy look either. I would’ve expected more from our girl. Gawd knows we’ve all been waiting long enough to share this big news with her, now she’s going to be all coy and hide it from us? Sheesh.

In other news, I gotta ask: what in the hell was she thinking when she (or her stylist) sent her out in that severe-pullback hairdo (on the left)? Instant face lift? I smell a nasty headache coming from that style, Jen. Really.

So anyway, have a great Friday, dahlings. Sorry for the late post today. I have a good excuse, but you’ll forgive me if I bribe you with a nice, strong drinkie, won’t you? Thanks, I thought so. I’ve taught you well.

Now go - it’s Happy Hour time! *clink*
